“We are faking happiness; our man is missing,” says Cubana Chief Priest, calling for the release of Very Dark Man.

Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has criticized the arrest of social media activist Very Dark Man. According to Frukemtv, the Nigerian Police Force arrested him in Abuja on Friday. His lawyer, Denise Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest on his X account.

On his Instagram page, Cubana called for the release of Very Dark Man, stating that people were pretending to be happy and that there had been no joy since his disappearance. He expressed hope that Very Dark Man would either be released or that there would be good news from his captors.

“We are just pretending to be happy. Our man is missing. We hope he regains his freedom today or that we receive a press release from those who abducted him. There is no joy; the voice of the voiceless is missing, and the hope of the hopeless is nowhere to be found. Peace is crying, and the streets are calling.

Cubana's post came shortly after his best friend, Davido, expressed his support for VDM. The singer noted that amidst all the noise, it was uplifting to see the positive impact that Very Dark Man has had on people's lives, and he appreciated the support being shown for him. The Grammy nominee also called for the activist's freedom.

Veteran actress Rita Edochie also voiced her support, stating that VDM is an outstanding young man in society. She emphasized that if VDM is silenced, no one will be ready to take his place in advocating for social issues.

Despite his controversial lifestyle, some celebrities have publicly embraced VDM. Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija Level Up, even nominated him to run for President of the Youth Democratic Party (YDP). She asserted that she would proudly stand by him, believing that a better Nigeria can emerge through his leadership.

On the other hand, Vee Iye criticized VDM's supporters, suggesting they might need a mental evaluation. She stressed the importance of collective responsibility in advocating for the rights of Nigerians and dismissed the notion of individual freedom fighters.
