"Why I turned down numerous attractive movie roles in Nollywood" – May Edochie explains

May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, recently shared the reasons behind her decision to decline numerous enticing movie roles in the film industry. In an interview with comedian Ayo Makun, she mentioned how fellow actress Omoni Oboli had urged her to accept a film offer.

 

Throughout the past three years, May has consistently turned down various movie scripts and roles, despite the attractive financial offers accompanying them. She expressed that she simply does not want to pursue acting, even though she recognizes her versatility and ability to excel in various endeavors.

 

Omoni, surprised by May's decision, questioned how she could refuse such opportunities. May explained, "I have received scripts and movie roles, and people have been willing to pay significant amounts for me to appear in their films. Producers and directors have reached out to me, including some familiar faces, but I have rejected everything. I am not interested in being an actor or actress. I know I am a jack of all trades and capable of many things if I set my mind to it."

In a recent interview, May Edochie addressed some misconceptions about her personal life. The mother of four clarified that she is not advocating for divorce or separation. She indicated that some men believe she is misleading their wives after her marriage to Yul Edochie ended, but she clarified that this is untrue, as she is a strong advocate for marriage.

 

May emphasized her love for family and marriage, stating that she views them as the foundation of family life. She expressed that without family, she and many others would not thrive.

 

It is important to note that Yul Edochie married his colleague, Judy, which led to the breakdown of his marriage with May. Following his second marriage, May filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order that denies him access to their former marital home. She has also secured full custody of their children.

 

May Edochie exemplifies that a woman can continue to succeed after a divorce. Since her separation from Yul, she has launched her own business, secured endorsement deals, received awards, and even made her acting debut, gaining favor among celebrities, Nigerians, and social media users alike.
